Mijas

Mijas is a municipality located on the Costa del Sol, in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, southern Spain.
It includes both coastal areas and the inland and is known for its picturesque whitewashed villages, beautiful landscapes,
rich history, and vibrant culture.
History
Mijas has a long history dating back to ancient Rome, as evidenced by archaeological finds in the region.
During the Moorish rule, Mijas was an important agricultural and trading settlement, known for its wine and olive production.
After the reconquest by the Catholic Monarchs in the 15th century, Mijas became part of the Kingdom of Castile
and remained an agricultural community until the rise of tourism in the 20th century.

– Mijas Pueblo:
The historic whitewashed village of Mijas Pueblo is situated on a hill with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
It is famous for its narrow cobbled streets, flower-filled patios,
and unfortunately, the donkey taxis that transport visitors around the town.
Fortunately, efforts are underway to ban these!
We sincerely hope that everyone with common sense will leave these donkeys alone!
